News & Opinion: Beating The Business Cycle - What it means to you

By: Dylan Schleicher @ 4:47 PM – Filed under: Current Events & Public Affairs

The main message that Im trying to give is that recessions are not simply the result of unforeseeable shocks, but rather part and parcel of free-market economies. Most people do believe that recessions are not forecastable, and therefore they dont even try. I think this is a big mistake. Most major bear markets are associated with recession, as are many of the most difficult times in the job market. Having a clue as to the risk of recession in the near-term can help people make much better decisions in both their professional and personal lives. I recently wrote an article that speaks to this issue for Optimize magazine.
