News & Opinion: Book Expo America
Last Friday, I spent the day with Jack. I met up with him at about 10:30am and we went from meeting to meeting all day long. We met publicists, editors, authors, and agents. It was my first exposure to the publishing industry and I found it very interesting.
I would start by saying that business books are not well represented. If you would have to walked through the booths of the Big Guys (Harper, Random House, Penguin, and Wiley), you would have seen only two wall banners for business books. That doesn't mean there are not good titles coming out. I think it just reflects that publishers don't see alot of money in business books right now.
