News & Opinion: Lots of Luck

By: Dylan Schleicher @ 4:39 PM – Filed under: Personal Development & Human Behavior

There are three books coming out in the next few months that deal with the topic of luck. The first is Good Luck: Create the Conditions for Success in Life and Business by Alex Rovira and Fernando Trias de Bas. Jack wrote a review and posted already this month. We like it here at 800-CEO-READ. We are going to be running an excerpt from it starting two weeks from today over on the Excerpts Blog. The second book is from contributor Susan RoAne. Her book is called How to Create Your Own Luck: The "You Never Know" Approach to Networking, Taking Chances, and Opening Yourself To Opportunity. Her book is chock full of stories that illustrate eight traits of "luckiness". Starting this week, Susan is going to post a weekly entry on each of the traits she talks about in the book. The last book isn't directly about luck, but I think there is a strong connection to the idea. Rosabeth Moss Kanter has a new book coming out called Confidence: How Winning Streaks & Losing Streaks Begin and End. She spends the first half of the book talking about the cyclical nature of winning and losing. In the second half of the book, she about what needs to be done to turnaround the downward spirals. After all of this, "Are you feelin' lucky?"
