News & Opinion: New Amazon.com Service

By: Dylan Schleicher @ 4:03 PM – Filed under: Publishing Industry

Our friends at Amazon.com are offering a new shipping service called Amazon.com Prime. For $79 a year, you can have all of your packages arrive within two days. It requires no minimum purchase and no consolidating of your order. This works across their range of products from books to DVDs to personal care. The Prime service also allows you to opt for overnight service for $3.99 per item.

My take is they are trying to provide more value as a way to get people to start paying for shipping again.

What are your thoughts? Is it a good value? Will you be using the service?
