News & Opinion: New Excerpt and Podcast: Beyond Reason

By: Dylan Schleicher @ 4:27 PM – Filed under: Management & Workplace Culture

Emotions appear in the best of times and the worst of times--like at your best friend's wedding when tears of joy spill out to the argument with your brother where anger seems to dictate your words. When emotions appear in negotiations, there can be detrimental effects. Hence why Roger Fisher and Daniel Shapiro wrote Beyond Reason--a book about actually using (rather than hiding) your emotions while negotiating.
I've read the book cover to cover and found it to be an interesting and helpful negotiating manual. So today I posted excerpts about "Strong Emotions" and posted the audio version of the same excerpt. There will be six total excerpts from Beyond Reason so, if you enjoy it, keep checking back for more.
[Note: the audio is abridged so it may not be a verbatim version of the excerpt.]
