News & Opinion: Secret of the Atkins Diet

By: Dylan Schleicher @ 12:01 PM – Filed under: Management & Workplace Culture

As long as we're talking about books, what's the deal with Atkins?
It has outsold just about every diet book ever published. How?
Because the good doctor made it easy to talk about. Because he made a diet that was easy to talk about. Not just easy to talk about, but easy to notice.
Think about the very first time you went to a restaurant with someone on Atkins. Of COURSE you talked about the diet. How could you avoid it?
By going to the edge, he made something remarkable (it could also kill you, but that's a different story). It's not that this is the best diet. It's just a diet that's easy to talk about.
Last time I checked, Jack wasn't selling diet books. Sorry.
