News & Opinion: We're Hiring: Digital Marketing Specialist
We are hiring an entry-level, full-time Digital Marketing Specialist to join our marketing team in Milwaukee. This person will work predominantly online to get the word out about our company, the books we sell, and activities of the larger publishing world.
800-CEO-READ is a company born out of a storied local bookshop, whose values are rooted in the community we come from, and whose impact we measure in the social profit we provide those we work with. We believe in books and human-centric marketing; our audience is not data to be mined, but relationships to build and maintain and enjoy. We come to work each day eager to engage in debate over the state of the world via the books that cross our desks.
We are currently building a new website with an outside firm, and are looking for someone to get in on the ground floor of that project so that we’re not only launching it together, but thinking holistically and strategically about its long-term maximization and support. The marketing department is currently a cozy team of two that runs our editorial site, our annual book awards, and all other marketing and public relations work for 800-CEO-READ. This position will add to our digital marketing skill set and we are willing to mold duties and responsibilities for the right candidate who wants to work in a highly collaborative, self-driven culture. Though we do much of our work online, we remain a people-focused company, and do much of our best work in the tactile, analog world—talking to authors, publishers, and customers, and mining the depths of books. We hope to find someone as comfortable working in a book as they are working in the cloud—as comfortable turning pages as pressing buttons. About Blyth Meier
Blyth Meier joined us to lead our marketing department in 2015 after doing that work for the Milwaukee Film Festival for the previous five years. While she made good use her filmmaking degree at that job, here she returns to her first love—books. As an undergraduate English major at the University of North Dakota, Blyth’s favorite time of year was the annual Writers Conference, which brought many of her soon-to-be favorite authors to the remote Northern Prairie: Peter Matthiessen, August Wilson, Toi Derricotte, Mark Doty, Natasha Trethewey, and Terry Tempest Williams. Blyth lives in the Riverwest neighborhood of Milwaukee, where she gardens, cooks, takes photographs, makes films, and participates in a yearly 24-hour bike race. At 800-CEO-READ, she runs our social media accounts, writes for In the Books, and is the keeper of all our marketing spreadsheets.
