News & Opinion: We're Hiring: Systems Administrator
We are hiring a Systems Administrator to join our team, working under the direction of our Technology Director. We're looking for a self-motivated, well-organized, and resourceful IT professional who also loves being around books. Someone who is passionate about their specialty, with a broad knowledge of technologies. If you are confident when working independently, yet welcome collaboration, then we'd love to hear from you. You can read the full job description here.
Many companies tell you they want you to bring 'your whole self to work,' but we really mean it. Our company's mission is to get the right books into the hands of the right people at the right time, but each of us here has passions beyond the pages of books that inform our work and our ability to be positive and supportive co-workers. We are writers and musicians, weavers and drag queens, DJs and bikers, mothers and fathers, metalsmiths and filmmakers. We are cat lovers and dog lovers alike. We share beers and tacos and birthday cake. We celebrate each hard day's work together, each small victory, each annual milestone. We do this because we believe being passionately committed to each other as human beings is the only way to do our best work for our customers. (And the best way to go through life.)
If you want to learn more about what fuels us, read our constitution here. And if you'd like to know more about the people you'd be spending your days with at our Walker's Point office, you can read all about us here.
If this sounds like a good fit for you, email your resume and cover letter to Sally Haldorson, General Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org (no phone calls please). Deadline is 10/17/2018. We look forward to meeting you!
About Blyth Meier
Blyth Meier joined us to lead our marketing department in 2015 after doing that work for the Milwaukee Film Festival for the previous five years. While she made good use her filmmaking degree at that job, here she returns to her first love—books. As an undergraduate English major at the University of North Dakota, Blyth’s favorite time of year was the annual Writers Conference, which brought many of her soon-to-be favorite authors to the remote Northern Prairie: Peter Matthiessen, August Wilson, Toi Derricotte, Mark Doty, Natasha Trethewey, and Terry Tempest Williams. Blyth lives in the Riverwest neighborhood of Milwaukee, where she gardens, cooks, takes photographs, makes films, and participates in a yearly 24-hour bike race. At 800-CEO-READ, she runs our social media accounts, writes for In the Books, and is the keeper of all our marketing spreadsheets.
