News & Opinion: Where Have We Been?
We know things have been a little quiet here on the blog. We have no excuse except to say we have been busy with some other things. We still love you all, but listen to some of the things we have been up to.
Last week, 800ceoread held an author conference in Chicago. It was our first shot at creating a live event where authors could connect with each other and hear from folks in the industry. The feedback has been tremendous and we will certainly be doing it again in '07. Rebecca covered it well this morning.
Speaking of Rebecca, she quietly came on to the scene right before Thanksgiving. She joins us from the retail side of Harry W. Schwartz (our sister company). Rebecca is taking on the role Kate was playing in marketing. Don't worry. Kate is still with us and is going to concentrate on the sales side of things in her new job. You will start to hear more from Rebecca this week, and Kate will still be chiming in from time to time here on the blog.
800ceoread has also been working a spring business event series for the Milwaukee area. We liked how things went with Bill Taylor and Carly Fiorina in October. We will be announcing speakers and dates in the next week or so.
Finally, we find the books have been piling up. The winter/spring season has some great stuff and we need to get to talking about it. Before we do that, everyone here is going to be working on our Best of 2005 lists. We also pull some others in to give their thoughts.
So, we are back and we'll get things going again here on the blog.
About Dylan Schleicher
Dylan Schleicher has been a part of the 800-CEO-READ claque since 2003. Even though he's stayed on at the company, he has not stayed put. After beginning in shipping & receiving, he joined customer service and accounting before moving into his current, highly elliptical orbit of duties overseeing the ChangeThis and In the Books websites, the company's annual review of books and in-house design. He lives with his wife and two children in the Washington Heights neighborhood on Milwaukee's West Side.
